GyanKumariSunuwar, born as the eldest daughter of a poor family in Dudhauli municipality in Ward No. 8 of Sindhuli district, had to enter an undisclosed house at the age of 16 after completing her primary education.
A few years after marriage, GyanKumari's husband Deepak Raj sought overseas employment with the dream of earning money and keeping his family happy. Deepak went for overseas job and GyanKumari was spending her days with her immature age and two young daughters in hopes of a golden future. Unfortunately, she finds out that her husband has left the world and will never return. Her dreams of better livelihood fell, her daughters lost the love and support of their father.
Although she did not give up, it is true that she now had nothing to lose. she started working as a peon in a private school with a monthly salary of Rs 3,000. She knows that this amount is not enough to educate and raise her two daughters, but she had no better option. At Rs 3,000 per month, it was very difficult to run a house and educate children. Thinking that the future of her children cannot be created in this way, she decided to start a business, but who would believe a poor and lonely woman in our society? She was disappointed.
Meanwhile, she heard about JeevanBikas, a microfinance organization that provides financial services with no collateral loans. She joined a group and borrowed Rs 20,000 to start a shop. Due to her hardworking attitude and dedication to work, she was able to run the business successfully with gradual progress. As the business grew, along with borrowing, the business grew and also found a way to live. GyanKumari is currently running a grocery business with an investment of Rs 700,000.
The income from the business is sufficient to cover the entire family as well as the study expenses of two daughters of class 9 and 10 respectively. She says that the remaining amount will be deposited in savings account for higher education of her daughters.
Life has become easier. He had no idea that life would change and the situation would improve after that misery and disaster. She is looking forward to her daughters’ bright future together with JeevanBikas. She says, "If you are hardworking and engaged in your work, then there is definitely success". GyanKumari advises everyone to be hardworking and self-reliant to change their standard of living.
